Gabriel Marcel Society
Description: "The Gabriel Marcel Society was founded 1986 under the initiative of Prof. Thomas Anderson, Chairperson of the Dept. of Philosophy, Marquette University and with the consensus of the persons attending this preliminary meeting. Prof. Anderson was elected the first President of the Gabriel Marcel Society and Prof. Bernard Gendreau, of Xavier University was elected Secretary Treasurer. A constitution was drawn up and approved at the next annual meeting of the Gabriel Marcel Society. This Society is governed by its officers and an executive committee of three members with alternating three year terms. The purposes of the Gabriel Marcel Society are: to encourage Marcel scholarship and the exchange of ideas among Marcel scholars; to establish communication with Marcel groups in other countries. The Society aims to promote communication about various aspects of Marcel's work among scholars and other interested persons."
German Society for Analytic Philosophy
Description: The German Society for Analytic Philosophy ("GAP") aims at promoting analytic
philosophy, especially in German-speaking countries. This is accomplished by exchange of
information, by coordination and advice in research projects, by assistance in promoting
research, by support of scientific talent and, particularly by organizing scientific
meetings and congresses. GAP provides a European platform of communication for analytic
philosophy in German language. GAP is committed to further the visibility of the growing
variety of analytic positions and to promote the international philosophical exchange with
a special emphasis on including Central and Eastern Europe.
Gesellschaft für Interkulturelle Philosophie, (Society for Intercultural Philosophy)
Description: The meeting of different cultures, religions and philosophies calls for an intensive and
qualified discourse on the part of all concerned. The purpose of the SIP is the study of
philosophy from a cultural and intercultural point of view beyond any centrisms, whether
European, Asian, African or Latin American. Furthermore the society promotes intercultural
understanding by way of a philosophy that seeks to be both: a way of thought as well as a
way of life. The Society of Intercultural Philosophy (registered office in
Cologne/Germany) holds conferences, congresses and publishes a thematically oriented
volume (annually, Editions Rodopi, Amsterdam-Atlanta) in its series entitled: 'Studien zur
Interkulturellen Philosophie - Studies in Intercultural Philosophy - Etudes de philosophie
interculturelle.' Membership is open to everyone interested.
Global Dialogue Institute
Description: The purpose of the GDI is to promote dialogue in the broadest sense among individuals and
groups of different religions and cultures, focusing especially though not exclusively on
the "opinion-shapers" of society, e.g., scholars, professionals, and
institutional & business leaders. In this website you will find references to the

Description: "A consortium of 13 Phiadelphia area Philosophy Departments, holding, every academic year, 3 conferences on topics of interest mainly to professional philosophers, one undergraduate conference, one public issues forum, and supporting (currently) four reading groups.
