Far Western Philosophy of Education Society

Fédération Internationale des Sociétés de Philosophie
Description: Also known as "International Federation of Philosophical Societies". "FISP is the highest non-governmental world organization for philosophy. It was established in 1948. Its main objectives are: to contribute directly to the development of professional relations between philosophers of all countries, freely and with mutual respect; to foster contacts between institutions, societies and periodical publications dedicated to philosophy; to collect documentation useful for the development of philosophical studies; to sponsor every five years the World Congress, which started meeting in 1900; to promote philosophical education, to make publications of global interest and to contribute to the impact of philosophical knowledge on global problems. FISP members are not individual philosophers, but philosophical societies and other similar philosophical institutions of national, regional and international levels. Among its one hundred and two full and corresponding members, seventy-nine are national and twenty-three international societies."

Florida Philosophical Association
Description: The mission of the FPA is to promote philosophy in Florida by facilitating the exchange of ideas among those engaged in this field of inquiry, by encouraging investigation, by fostering the educational function of philosophy, and by improving the academic status of philosophy. To this end there is an Annual Conference at which a variety of professional activities are sponsored. The Conference is held in November and is located at a Florida college or university.

Focusing Institute, The
Description: The Focusing Institute was founded in 1986 as a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to help make focusing and the philosophy available to the public and to the international scholarly community through teaching, research and written materials. The Gendlin Online Library hosted by the Institute makes the collected works of Eugene Gendlin freely avaliable to the scholarly, academic and to the lay public, along with the practices and applications that stem from his Philosophy of the Implicit in many fields.

Forum for European Philosophy
Description: "The Forum is an educational charity which organises and runs a full and varied programme of philosophy and inter disciplinary events in the UK. Over the past eight years, the Forum for European Philosophy has gained widespread recognition for its work in this area, developing a distinctive programme of thought-provoking events open to the general public. Our events range from conferences, discussion and reading groups to seminars and book forums, all of which are open to the public and most of which are free."

Forum for Law and Philosophy
Description: "The Forum for Law and Philosophy comprises academic staff members and research students from the Schools of Law, Philosophy, History and Politics with additional membership from outside Queen's University. It began in 2001 as a reading and discussion group dealing with philosophical issues related to law, and took its first national and international steps with a Workshop on Analytical Jurisprudence in October 2002. Its main aim is to promote research and international discussion in a wide range of areas of concern to the interface between philosophy and law. It achieves this by holding a series of conferences, workshops and public lectures."

Franciscan Institute
Associated School: St. Bonaventure University
Description: The Franciscan Institute grants degrees including Master of Arts Degree as well as an Advanced Certificate in Franciscan Studies. It serves the Franciscan Family and the scholarly world through its philosophical and theological research which provides critical editions of the Franciscan Masters, through its publications which make classical and contemporary Franciscan resources readily available, and through its teaching program which unfolds the results of its research and reflection.

Freethinkers Philosophical Society
Description: "The Freethinkers Philosophical Society is a non-profit member supported interfaith philosophical forum and think tank located in Minneapolis, MN. We work to promote the use of common sense, practical philosophy, and spirituality in daily life. We are not supported by any religious, political, educational or governmental institutions."

Friedrich Nietzsche Society
Description: The Friedrich Nietzsche Society was founded in 1990. Its aim is to promote the study of the life, work and influence of Friedrich Nietzsche. The Society currently has around 200 members in the UK and worldwide, and welcomes new members with an interest in Nietzsche, whether professional or private. The Society's activities are organised around its annual conference and its journal, the Journal of Nietzsche Studies, which is published twice yearly.

Friends of Wisdom
Description: "This is an association of people sympathetic to the idea that academic inquiry should help humanity acquire more wisdom by rational means.
